Your visit to Cobb County would be incomplete without experiencing the area's exciting variety of live entertainment. Cobb County hosts hundreds of live performances every year and has a wealth of beautiful, comfortable, architecturally interesting and historically significant venues in which to experience them.

VENUES FOR EVERYTHING

Among the county's most beloved performing arts venues is the Cobb Energy Centre, located in northwest Atlanta, adjacent to I-75 inside I-285. The Centre is home to the Atlanta Ballet, Atlanta  Broadway Series, Atlanta Opera and also hosts concerts, family shows, symphony orchestras and corporate meetings throughout the year. The extraordinary design of the $145 million facility includes a 2,750 seat theater, a 10,000 square foot ballroom, 9,500 square foot Courtyard, 3,100 square foot Terrace, ample parking and full service food and beverage facilities. 

Recently reopen after a major renovation, the 1930s-era Strand Theatre located on the Marietta Square. The Strand was updated with state-of-the-art sound, the interior and exterior were restored, two new reception rooms and rooftop terrace were added.  The Atlanta Lyric Theatre is the only music theatre company in residence at the Strand.  

PERFORMING ARTS

Cobb County offers audiences an extensive variety of performing arts to please all tastes.  Between performances by the Atlanta Opera, Atlanta Ballet, Cobb Symphony Orchestra, Georgia Ballet, touring productions at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, musical performances by the Atlanta Lyric Theatre at the Strand and top-notch acts at Theatre in the Square, there is outstanding entertainment every night in Cobb County.  

Dance

Founded in 1929 by Dorothy Alexander, The Atlanta Ballet is one of the nation's leading professional ballet companies, recognized for the artistry of our dancers and our innovative programming.

The Georgia Ballet was established in 1960 by Iris Hensley and has grown to become Atlanta's major professional dance company and school.  The Georgia Ballet presents works that speak to our passions and emotions by choreographers who have fashioned ballets in the classical and contemporary styles.

Music

From acoustic to classical, rock and opera; from string quartets to a full symphony orchestra; from jazz to pop and beyond, when it comes to music, Cobb County hits the right notes in an array of genres. Here's a sampling of what's available.

The Atlanta Opera was founded in 1979 and has entertained over 800,000 guests with more than 250 performances and 75 productions. For over 25 years, The Atlanta Opera has worked to increase the understanding of its patrons with unforgettable and exhilarating performances showcasing the utmost musical and theatrical standards. 

Established in 1951, the Cobb Symphony Orchestra performs everything from classical to pops throughout the year. Come and listen to their diverse repertoire and interactive concerts.

For the ultimate in laid-back family-friendly outdoor summer music, there's the ever-popular Summer Concert Series. The free shows run all summer long in Acworth, Kennesaw, Mableton, Marietta, and Smyrna.  

Theatre

At more than 25 years of age, Atlanta's only local professional music company, Atlanta Lyric Theatre treats audiences to 6-8 musical performances a year.

Theatre in the Square is Cobb County 's only professional theatre presenting 12 productions a year on its two stages by some of America 's leading playwrights. Situated in a past cotton warehouse in Historic Marietta Square, the 225 seat Main Stage and 120 seat Alley Stage attract theatergoers throughout the state.
